Matthew 23:11 reminds us that “The greatest among you will be your servant.” Hillside views service as a vital part of being involved in the local church, as serving with a humble heart is an important aspect of being a Christ follower.

Our weekly services and ministries at Hillside require dozens of volunteers serving faithfully within their spiritual gifts. Whether you’re comfortable working up front, or want to stay behind the scenes, sign up to to get connected and start serving at Hillside.

+ HillsideKids

HillsideKids is a great opportunity to share the Gospel with children ages Infant - 5th Grade in fun and engaging ways. Our desire is to create a safe environment for children to ask questions, explore God’s Word, and build lasting relationships with friends and volunteers.

How you can serve:

  • Teacher: Prepares and teaches the lesson.
  • Teacher’s Aide: Supports the main teacher in shepherding the children.

+ Hospitality

The Hospitality Team assits the Deconesses in serving the Hillside family in varies of ways, mostly behind the scenes. If you’re interested in volunteering to help you’ll find it’s a great way to get to know people and give back. By signing up you’ll be notified of needs and have the opportunity to serve if you are available. You are not committing to say “yes” to every opportunity.

How you can serve:

  • Service Greeter
  • HillsideKids Area Greeter
  • Welcome Table
  • Reception Set-Up
  • Communion Set-Up
  • Caring Team Volunteers: meals, cookies, transportation to doctor appointments, help with errands, etc.

+ Coffee Ministry

The Coffee Ministry oversees the preparation, serving, and clean-up for coffee on Sunday mornings. This is an opportunity to help encourage fellowship before and after services, and to be a welcoming face for new visitors.

How you can serve:

  • Prepare and set-up coffee on Sunday mornings before service
  • Oversee the coffee table before and after services
  • Clean up coffee table and equipment after services

+ Worship/Tech

Music

The Music Team at Hillside is a ministry made up of believers seeking to glorify God and serve one another with the musical gifting entrusted to them. Our ministry focuses on the principle that only the truth of God is sufficient to drive the worship of God. As a result, we seek to leverage our musical abilities as tools to communicate and emphasize truth in order to display and exalt God, that we might know and worship Him in spirit and truth.

How you can serve:

If you have any musical gifting and desire to use it to glorify God and serve His church, please reach out!

  • *At minimum, Wednesday nights from 7-9 PM and Sunday mornings beginning at 8:00 AM must be available.

Tech

The Tech Team is a support ministry that seeks to create an accessible, non-distracting environment for worship services and fellowship events. We use our talents with audio, visual, communication, and organization to make sure that all our services run smoothly. No experience with cameras, slides, and/or audio needed; we would love to train you if you have the heart and time for this ministry.

How you can serve:

In-Person

  • Sound Technician: Mixing sound in Worship Center or for livestream.
  • Camera Operator: Framing, focusing, and choosing camera angles for livestream.
  • ProPresenter Operator: Operating lyrics and slides for music and sermons.
  • Lighting Technician: Changing lighting cues during worship service.
  • Livestream Producer: Ensuring highest level of quality for all areas of tech. Experience with audio and video is required. Experience with lighting is appreciated.
    • Prior experience for these can be helpful, but it is not required.

Remote

  • Video Editing, technical support, writing to assist with Knowledge Base and process documentation.

+ Security/ Usher

The Hillside Security Team provides oversight for our worship services and educational areas. Our goal is to provide an environment of safety through prevention, preparedness and response to emergencies so that all may freely and safely be encouraged and equipped to meet, love, and follow Jesus. The Usher Team helps our services to run smoothly and support our Security Teams.

How you can serve:

  • Emergency Response Team: Monitor the Worship Center and Hillside campus for safety concerns and address issues as needed.
  • Usher Team: Greet attendees at the worship center doors, hand out bulletins, collect church attendance counts, collect church offering, pass out communion, assist ERT in emergencies.
  • Parking Team: Greet attendees on arrival, assist visitors and newcomers in getting connected with our Hospitality Team, and monitor the parking lots for issues during services.

+ Outreach

The goal of all of our outreach teams at Hillside is to make disciples and grow the kingdom through the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How you can serve:

  • Global Outreach Team: We support our missionaries as they proclaim the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
  • Farm Drive: We minister to our local community through homework assistance and Bible teaching.
